Description of Practice

Greetings, It is a pleasure to express my excitement and enthusiasm to provide professional, quality, facilitative mediation services in the areas of civil, faith-based, restorative justice and victim-offender and parent-teen relationships. In these areas of mediation my goal is to bridge the gap in communities and in families, to help them heal from past hurts, work to prevent future issues and cultivate better relationships. I believe that strong families contribute to strong communities, and strong communities contribute to better cities, states and ultimately a better world. Additionally, as a mentor and motivational speaker my messages promote empowerment, encouragement and hope to those who have endured similar situations or misfortunes that I have experienced in life. The goal of this practice is to capitalize on my strong educational background, professional experience and life experiences to promote peace and help all parties reach an amicable, fair and sustainable resolution.

Professional Background

I have 18 years of experience working in the area of Criminal Justice and investigations and have worked diligently with the community. I am a member of the National Association for Civilian Oversight of Law Enforcement (NACOLE) which is a non-profit organization that works to enhance accountability and transparency in policing and build community trust through civilian oversight. I have participated in NACOLE Webinars and attended several Annual Conferences and have become knowledgeable regarding best practices in police and community mediation.

Completed the 40 Mediation Training; Completed Restorative Justice Training; Mediated Neighbor Trouble; Co-mediated a variety of General Civil cases; Observed a variety of different General Civil cases; Participated in mediation role play at Wayne State University

I possess a Master’s Degree in Dispute Resolution from Wayne State University. I also possess a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice from the University of Detroit Mercy.

In the mediation I serve as a neutral 3rd party who helps to facilitate the conversation so that the parties can reach a mutually agreeable resolution. The preferred approach is the transformative approach where the goal is to foster the parties’ empowerment and recognition, enabling them to approach their current issue, as well as the issues that may arise in the future, with a stronger and more open view.
